The Violence is Back

I haven’t been able to sleep lately. and a lot of the reason has to do with the danger that is lurking just outside these walls.

exploitation. machetes. stabbings. pills. jackings. gangs. violence. headlines. funerals.

It has been a rough six months, but experience tells if the statistics do not: the violence is back. Of course it never left, but I remember when it felt like we were winning our battle. I remember when people were out in the streets – sometimes in the hundreds – standing for safety, being a community, raising the children together. its gonna take more than a bell tower and a megaphone to save lives in our hood.
Love has to be at the root of our solution…but we need to work together to create it.
